Eng Martin Mukama

Martin Mukama is a seasoned health-tech innovator and engineer serving as the Chief Prototyping Officer at the Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. With a strong foundation in Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree in Health Informatics—both from Mbarara University—Martin brings a rare blend of technical expertise and a deep understanding of healthcare systems.

His work is driven by a passion for transforming ideas into scalable solutions that address critical challenges in healthcare, especially in maternal and neonatal health. At CITT, he plays a central role in accelerating the development of locally relevant, high-impact health innovations. He has led the design and rapid prototyping of multiple breakthrough medical technologies and digital health tools, collaborating with clinicians, engineers, and researchers to deliver user-centered solutions.

Martin is also a committed mentor and capacity builder, empowering young innovators and students with the skills and mindset needed to ideate, prototype, and scale meaningful innovations. His contributions continue to shape the future of health innovation in Uganda and beyond.
